Curiosity got the best of me! I just placed an order for a set of the new pups for my Mystic Dream JP6. They should be in next week and will be installed the following weekend. I'm seeing DT next week in Asheville, NC too so i'll be dying to hear these pups in my guitar!!! Happy bday to me!

A few people have said they think these pickups are just 'hype'. I highly doubt that, but we shall see soon enough...

I got my 7 string versions last week. They are still sitting on my desk, just waiting for my BFR to get back to me.

i just got a set from Michael at Dimarzio and installed them into my JP50. The neck pickup is incredible. Detailed, crisp, yet fat on the high strings. The bridge is high power and the bar magnet looks metal!

love dimarzio pickups!

I can't find these online anywhere...where are you guys ordering them from?

I had to call DiMarzio. They asked where I lived and gave me the name of a guy in NJ since the Guitar Center here in Boston was of no use. They were also willing to sell to me directly but they said they would have to charge me far more.

I believe Pete Dubaldo said he would have them for sale at the August 5th meet and greet, so you may want to give him a call, I'm sure he could ship them to you.

Edit:Oops. I didn't notice you were in Toronto, Dubaldo's probably isn't an option for you. Any Dimarzio dealer should be able to order them for you, it's just a matter of making sure they actually call in the order.

Pat, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing on my JP50. Were there any installation issues? I've never changed a pickup out, but I thought I'd give it a whirl on the JP50.

No issues at all. Installation was a breeze. The black and white wires are soldered together. The red goes to the switch. Green and bare to back of vol pot. The combined neck and bridge sonde great too (swithc in the middle )
Pretty straightforward install.

I'm really interested in hearing someone compare these to the D-Sonic/Air Zone combo in detail. A before and after audio recording with otherwise identical outside factors would be epic.

My JP6 is a 2006 so it has the older bridge pickup in it. I didn't like a D-Sonic in my guitar (tried one and took it out ASAP) because it was too bright in comparison to the neck pickup. I couldn't EQ my amp to make both pickups sound good - either one was too bright or the other was too dark. These new pickups look like they'll even out better and have more clarity. I'm very excited.

Pickups arrived yesterday. Installing them this weekend!

After seeing DT live last night for the first time I am even more excited to hear these pickups in my guitar. His tone is TO DIE FOR. I'm still amazed...

You know what I've discovered? All the gadgets in the world can't get me to play any better. You get all excited for a new piece of gear and the same old crap comes out of the speakers!

I disagree, if I take my Ibanez JEM it sound weak and thin.
if I take my musicman it just sounds incredible "I love this guitar".

I agree to an extent, but sounding just a little better with a new (better?) piece of gear is encouraging in itself. I think it's the whole reason GAS occurs. The thought of sounding better 'instantly' is always appealing.
