Hi Forumers,

I just wanted to say to everyone that after having tried to sell my 2 Music Man guitars on E-Bay (i wanted others Music Man, in fact, same model but with a Floyd Rose, an Axis and a Luke I but both second hand ) i'm very happy the sale was not a success, so i always have them with me ( i've bougth them new)
Sure i'm not going to try to sell them anymore, they're my precious jewels...i thought after having played the Floyd Rose version that they sounded better, surely because of the Floyd mass, but even if the Floyded version sound a little more fat (both the Axis and the Luke), i still prefer the Vintage tremolo.
Nevermore i'll redo this mystake... sometimes in life you can do things you sincerely regret after, it was one of those things.

One thing that amazed me is that my Al that had before. That trem stayed in tune REALLY well! I had bad experiences with other vintage-style trems in the past, but the Music man trems work good. I guess what i'm trying to say is there is a time and a place for a floyd, but the EB vintage trems are very dependable too.

You are forgiven...lol.

Personally, I like the vintage trem much better.....easier to change out strings, set up...etc....

Enjoy those babies...and if you still want a floyd...save up and add to your collection.

I can only agree with that statement :)

My EVH hardtail is far more resonant than the Axis with a Floyd. Playing it without an amp, I can feel/hear the body sings and vibrate in my hands.

Thanks for the information Big Poppa, the difference was maybe due to a different set up (Action, string gauge...) and i, by mystake, thought it was the vibrato due to it's more important mass !
Now that i have raised the action a bit, the resonance is better and the sound fatter, so... Viva the Music Man Vintage Trem !

I have a supersport and a floyded axis. Each sounds great but different. The SSport definitely has more resonance and is brighter acoustically but plugged in the floyd Axis has more oomph which is probably more to do with the lack of a tone pot than the trem...

In my case:

Hard Rock - Axis
Everything else - Axis SuperSport

Spkirby, exactly the conclusion i have done between the 2 guitars, believed the difference came from the trem, but you must be right, about the tone control !

I don’t use a trem, have my blocks loaded to the max with springs. But what I can say is, the sustain and tonal complexity of the MM vintage trem on both of my Silo Spec’s is better than any hard-tail I’ve played, including my Axis Sport. I used to think hard-tail was the only way to go, since I rarely use a trem, and logic told me a hard-tail would be more resonant. Not any more.

It makes me wonder what kind of mojo is in the trem-block. I’ve heard steel is best, and also know this is where some makers skimp. Would be really curious to know, if it’s not secret inside stuff.

As for Floyds, I could never use it, and it felt like my guitar was packin’ an anchor. I like things simple.

Come come now people. Are you seriously trying to tell me that my Axis is some kind of tone dog ?

And there was me thinking it was the best playing and sounding guitar I'd ever played !

No way DrBob...I love my Axis as much as the SuperSport. Different beasts. While I think the brighter sounding SSport works better with my current amp (Cornford Hellcat so it's a dark/warm sounding amp by design and so benefits from the extra jangle!), the Axis wins on power (great for leads and the thicker heavier stuff) and playability - it just feels more comfy and easy to play...maybe because I've had the longest I dont know but thats just me!

Steve, I'm right there, the Axis SS is without question a superlative guitar but, My Axis.. man when it comes down to it, if I just want to rip it up then the Axis is the weapon of choice for me. Mind you I reckon that the 'no up bend' thing is a help and a god send.:)
