Saturday night I used me new AL live for the first time!

Well, it simply sounded beautiful! It didn't matter how loud I played, it cut through the mix at every level and it never got on my nerves! Also the other musicians loved the tone and looks of it. Even one guy from the audience came to me after the show and complimented on the sound. He described it as tonally perfectly balanced and that was what I felt, too. I tried all the different PUs and they all sounded just perfect. I found myself playing better and using much more sounds than usually. It was possible to find a good and matching sound for every song. I also made much more use of the tone knob than usually. I only added some delay from time to time, a little bit of reverb from my Deluxe Reverb and nothing more.

Only downside: the gig was outside with a roofed stage and some swallows would settle down under the roof and poop on the stage - I was really cautious and kept the case closed!! :)

I am absolutely thrilled with that instrument! I have never had more fun playing the guitar! Thanks Music Man!

@Spud: I remember that you told me not to be surprised about compliments on the good tone. But I was really stunned when it really happened at the very first live gig with the guitar!!

Hoff- I am so glad that you and the audience enjoyed it. When I say "I don't use my Les Paul anymore" - you can see why.

Nice one!!!

I had the same experience (minus the swallows) with my black '96 AL on Thursday night. I had it with me as my backup guitar but broke a string early into the first set on the primary (another EBMM) and switched to the AL. It sounded so great with what we were doing that night that even though I put new strings on the other during our break I played the second set with the AL anyway. Lots of compliments on the tone afterward, and I did do a better job on some of the lead work than I ususally do. Just love the AL neck to death. I need to find me a nice AL HH to complete the set.
