So I went to Target and bought one of those scales that you use to weigh food. Here's what I got when I put my basses on it:

Sterling H (honeyburst): 9 1/2 lbs.
Stingray: 9 1/4 lbs.
Bongo HH: 9 lbs.
Sterling 5 HH: 9 3/4 lbs.

and check this out:

Sterling HS: a hair under 9 lbs.

Sweet!

The Sterling H does sound different than the others to me. It feels dense. The sound is smooth and thick but still clear as a bell. I can feel the weight on it too. All of my basses sound freakin' awesome in their own way. The HS rocks, I'm loving it more every day. The Sterling 5 is well balanced weight-wise, it feels right. My two favs right now are the HS and Sterling 5, although in a week's time I play them all at some point. I'm in three different bands so in the span of a week I can have four rehearsals and a gig. It's nice to be able to switch it up and bring a different bass to rehearsal. Heck, I almost have a bass for every day of the week....

One would think that with the smaller body of the Sterling, that it would weigh less than a Stingray, no? On the surface, Logically it makes sense, but..

There's going to be a small variation between all basses. The single H Sterling is just more dense wood I guess!
