Good Mornin' ye all, I know this is techinically the WTB guitars thread but I need to post it here first as this is a bit of a mamoth task....

I am really lucky and have 2 wonderful children (when they behave themselves) -before my son was born I had what I can only describe as a panic that I'd never have money again - and as such bought a 1984 Gibson Les Paul custom, for me to play when he was growing up then when the time came if he was interested he could have it (18th Birthday?) - or sell it if he wanted to buy a car or something...

I did the same before my daughter was born - but this time in white. you'll have to forgive me in doing what I did - it was purely financial logic - buying the Les Pauls to make them money - like an investment - and I played them in the short term, forgive me we all make mistakes!!!
Now I did some digging (and here's where you can help!) - the LE's cover both the years my children were born - HOW COOL IS THAT! - So my plan is to sell the last 2 gibsons and pickup LE's for 07 and 04 - (My son Sam was born 18th December 2004 and my Daughter Chloe was born 22nd January 2007) I think my kids would like (Should they ever play) guitars made by people with passion and they both seem t have an eye for cool and pretty colours so seems like a sensible choice to me - If I could buy them new I would but I missed the boat....

Thanks to Spud his thread gave me the idea, I would welcome any information, if you know of individuals, dealers, or even if you're thinking of selling yourselves, I'm interested in any models from those years, please please please help me if you can - those of you out there who're parents should understand -those of you who aren't one day you will!

I thanks you in advance for any help you can give me, or if Poppa would build sell me some back dated ons ??? - Pretty please? I'll pose naked in London Town centre if you do ??? - I'll do it twice if you don't!!?!??!!?
Smelly...

The colours I'm looking for are: -

2008 Sequoia Gold / Gold fittings
2007 Blue Dawn
2006 Black/Gold fittings
2005 Buttercream
2004 Envy Green
2003 Radiance Red/Black h/s

I've done that... My son is born on 22/04/2008 and I have an LE08 coming in! Heh...

But honestly, I think you should have the 07 and 04 LEs for your kids to keep, and the Gibsons for their Uni fund... Heh.

LOL, I've just done the same, my boy was born in March and now has an Al on order, although not an LE. My wife might have caught on to my thinly veiled excuse to satisfy my addiction! ;)

Just a little update -

I think finding a 2007 might be easy, in fact Dave B has a Sil Spec which might do the job nicely.

The 2004 limited is gonna be a problem, I don't suppose there's one still in the EBMM factory that maybe was ordered then returend or order placed then cancelled ?

(Bit of a long shot but I want to know I can get both before doing this!)

I've been telling folks about your secret storage facility - It's like the hanger 18 of the UK - the irony is Mrs Smelly is all out for this,

The quest continues!!!!! - Hopefully should have something to show for it come the 09 Bash - meet you by the balcony again ? - I'll be wearing a white tulip and a moustache.....:D

Hey Smelly, you already have an LE 2007 - your Dargie Luke! :D

On the other hand, as justification for more EBMM's, I guess it doesn't count :)

The way I see it, when children are old enough to appreciate such fine gifts, they are probably going to cherish the ones that the parent really loved, instead of something that was just a financial investment. They may be less likely to part with something down the road if they knew you loved it.

BUMPSKI

One last bump before I start setting up google and eBay searches, if anyone has a limited 2004 they'd like to sell or has any information that may lead to one I'd be ever so greatful,

2007's I can still get a choice of new ones in the UK - but 2004's can't seem to get anywhere, thanks to Beth & Blind Lemon for the pointers but no joy....

If there's one sitting in a music shop near you please help me!
Thanks

Mike

Smelly,

Radiance Red, with the original balck headstock, was also a 2004 LE (not 2003). There were two releases that year, Radiance Red announced in February and the Envy Green announced in June. Although it still might be tough to find any NOS, you actually have a wider range to search for a 2004 LE than originally thought. Just make sure the rad red has the black headstock. After it was added to the regular color choices, it only came with standard matching/natural.

Mike,

One more thought, If you can deal with a bass rather than a guitar there is an Envy Green Sterling (single H, rosewood board) NOS and still in stock at

O'Di Bella Music
456 S WASHINGTON AVENUE
BERGENFIELD , NJ 07621
201-385-5800
201-385-5802 (fax)

Ask for Joe

I saw this and played it about two years back (don't know what kind of shape its in now though) and called them this afternoon on the chance it was still there... and it was. Since I believe MM now allows overseas shipping for limited items 2-years past their original availability, it might be worth contacting them. They would ship UPS. Or you can PM me if you think you need additional info, its about a 1/2 hour ride for me.

Michael
