Alright, so, I'm thinking of ordering a Koa Petrucci 6 string, but am curious about the tone that koa produces. I play a 7 string petrucci now, but not the BFR model. What differences in tone can I expect? If this has already been asked, I'm sorry...I attempted to search the forum but I must be retarded because any keyword I searched turned up blank.

Or you can view these two videos our friendly EBMM dealer (Pete) created...and then when you decide on one you can give him a call :)

The Koa JP is an amazing instrument to say the least. I love mine to death and its just got a tone that I can't explain properly with words. It has to be heard.

Its got a very fat, thick tone which I find similar to an LP or something along those lines. The mahogany body and neck give it great bass response and its a bit smoother sounding to my ears on the top end. The Koa top with the ebony fretboard and gold hardware is an amazing combination on the Koa's and just adds to the beauty. Like all the other JP's, its extremely versatile.

I play in a melodic hard rock band and with all the different tones that I need for certain parts, my JP delivers every time. The piezo is by far one of the best features of these guitars. My main clean is the piezo mixed with the split coil position with some reverb and chorusing and BAM, you have a killer clean sound. It sounds great with overdrive/gain as well. Absolutely kills through my Mark V with a 4x12.

thats good that it sounds killer with a Mark V...thats what I have! I think after my wedding next weekend, I'll pull the trigger on a Koa with gold. I'd love to order from Pete too...been meaning to for a while!

edit: After viewing those videos, I want a BFR AND a Koa...man...its a tough choice, but I think I enjoyed the sound of the Koa...we shall see...
