LA bound

Sorry for the non music related post, but I'm taking the fam to LA and need to know from you west coasters or anyone, where to stay. This is my first time out there. Any info on areas and hotels, would be greatly appreciated. Also anything you peeps suggest I have to do, cannot miss, while I'm there? Thanks.

Hard to suggest a place to stay it's so spread out.
What do you wanna do while out here?

If you like roller coasters, there's a 6 flags about an hour from LAX that has 20 coasters many of which will make you shat your pants.

Not sure but probably tour around hollywood, Beverly Hills, see the Jay Leno show. See the stuff that you can only do or see in that area. Coasters I can do anywhere. If it so spread out, maybe stay some where central or if there are more sites in one particular area, stay there. If it was just me I would'nt be so particular but with the wife and kid, I want to make sure it's nice and touristy.

Aside from the obvious, I'd get in the car and drive to these places and spend a couple of days each using LA as a hub
1 vegas (4 hours)
2 yosemite (6 hours)
3. San diego zoo (2 hours)
4 catalina island (hour by boat)

Dude, how old are your kids??? If they are young, then you have to take them to LegoLand in Carlsbad. My kids loved it.
