Hello.

I'm offered a Laney VC 30 and im wondering if anyone own or have tested one before?

What are your opinions about the amp?

Im looking for a good alround amp. From jazz to hard rock..
Do you think that this amp will do the job?

Hej (again) Victor -

I posted a quick message about the VC30 last nite on another thread, which I can't find right now since I'm sorta playing hooky at the office... ;)

I tried a VC30 a few years ago and was very, very impressed. It's basically a "class A" Vox AC30 circuit with a few modern features added (master volume and I think maybe there was an effects loop - I'm sure the Laney site has the specs). When I researched the amp at the time, it seemed a lot of Vox users on a budget would get one of these, put in an AC30-spec speaker, and be amazed at how close the tones were.

I demo-ed it with an Epiphone goldtop Les Paul with soapbar pickups and thought the combination sounded great, especially for the price (1/2 or more off the cost of the originals in both cases). Nice organic, rootsy tone, with a chimely clean and smooth warm overdrive. Not exactly a metal amp, but I've gotten great heavy tones out of other class A amps like the Mesa Heartbreaker by sticking a good pedal in front of it (the class A headroom makes for a really dynamic sound).

Definitely worth checking out if you like the Vox sound, for sure, but I think it's probably even more flexible. Of course, if you can try it out in person or get a deal where you can return it at little or no cost, all the better. I've unfortunately not been able to try any Laney amps lately, as they're no longer distributed by Ibanez here in the US, and therefore they're usually not in the stores near me anymore, but Laneys have always had a good tone/value ratio for their tube stuff.

Let us know what happens!
(I'm getting an itch to go looking for a VC30 now that you've brought this up!) :p

Hello... yeah i know u suggested it to me yesterday Purple, so i tried to find some information about it.

I think it might be something for me to buy but there is a few things that i want to know about it.

I did find some information on the net but i think the the answers that i get here are more useful...

The thing that I'm most worried about is the distortion... how would u describe it?
It would be great if i could play hard rock / metal with it to.

And does it play loud without messing up the sound?

found this on harmonycentral.com....

http://gitara.4web.pl/slaneyvc.htm

"This will play a soundfile of the VC-30 in action. This is with treble on 10 and bright switch "ON" - so you can get a darker sound than this. If you can find the amp for around $400-500 its a great deal as I consider it an above average amp with great clean tones. This amp responds really well to different tubes, so if you have the time and $$$ try swapping in some nice NOS tubes and you will be pleasantly suprised. "

and here's the link to the laney page

as always, its best to go and take your guitar to the store/private seller to test the amp out.

its the only way to be sure!

It's a very british amp, crystal clean and dynamic.
The 2° channel is not distortion...is overdrive....
has the sound of oasis, stone roses .....british pop...
if you want to play hard rock or metal you've got to put before a good distortion pedal...i suggest you the tech 21 comptortion...great dst.

I hope I was usefull
