Took time to talk to me about the car insurance business while dealing with customers, the other estimator out for the day and no boss around to help shoulder the load. I love this board.

Thanks Larry,
Tom

You are more that welcome Tom.

If anyone has any questions about autobody repairs or about how to approach an insurance adjuster about your repairs, just ask me and I'll try to help as much as I can.

Larry

Dealing with insurance adjusters can be very intimidating, so any help is always appreciated!

I would note that insurance laws vary significantly from state to state, so it's often a good idea to check the web for your state's insurance commissioner, state's attorney or department of consumer affairs. They often have good FAQ's. Many times there are additional coverages that you may be eligible for that insurance adjusters will conveniently forget to mention, or, sometimes they are unaware of themselves, such as rental coverage, diminution of value, etc.

I once had an insurance adjuster tell me that uninsured motorist (UM) coverage only applied when the other driver had no insurance at all. In Florida, it also covers your damages that are in excess of the other driver's coverage (e.g., you have medical bills, etc for $35K, the at-fault driver has $10 coverage and you have $50k uninsured motorist. You get their $10K and your UM pays $25K. She insisted that she was right, and that she had just taken a course on this, etc, etc.

I let her go on and on for awhile, then told her to go check the insurance commissioner's website and call me back. Strangely enough, I never heard back from her.

Bottom Line: Know your rights, don't let them intimidate you, and don't assume that they are experts. Some are and some aren't.

And stay away from "the good hands people!" Trust me. ;)

I'm with the good hands people.

And Larry is just as swell to the 6 stringers, too.

In an unrelated matter, my b-day is May 31 in case you want to put it in that Big Sur calendar. ;)

Consider it added! I'll have to find something really special for your birthday. :D

(Are you scared yet?)

I will agree, Larry is cool. Of course he also bought me a beer at the guitar show this weekend so I don't think I could say anything different.

If you would have stayed longer I would have bought you a few more. I wish you had stayed. The Domino Kings were great (www.dominokings.net) and before it was over, Bugs Henderson was jamming on stage.
