Larry’s fully-loaded Dargie Luke, famous for its numerous appearances on eBay, has finally made it to a new home in Australia. It arrived in Australia around 3rd or 4th of February, but didn’t get to me until today (11th February).
The official line is that it was caught up in Customs for one week. Sounds reasonable. I’ve heard horror stories about guitars being held up there for six weeks, or being lost altogether, or being sprayed with insecticides because the finish was tobacco-burst.
So I thought myself lucky. A wait of one week wasn’t so bad.
That is, until I opened the case and found something unexpected. It seems that although I thought the Dargie was sitting safely in Customs, it was actually touring the country. And I have proof!
The unexpected item in the case was a set of photographs. Photographs of the Dargie. The photos tell a story of what the Dargie was really up to during the week I thought it was in Customs.
Though I can’t be sure of the exact itinerary, I believe it went on a journey something like this:
It toured Sydney:
Made some new friends at Bondi Beach:
Checked out the native fauna in southern Queensland:
Went into the outback to see Uluru:
Went diving with sharks off the West Australian coast:
Seriously, this Dargie is appearing everywhere, first Pete’s shop, then the EBMM forum, then eBay, and now all over Australia!
But it is now safely in Carrum Downs, where it will remain forever:
PS Thanks again Larry…I’d say you were mad to part with this beauty, except I could never say such a harsh thing about a person to whom I’ll be eternally grateful!
