ah yeah!!!

today it arrived.. my stealth bongo 4 hh.. and WHAT a machine!!!
sleek and black, light it weight, perfectly balanced. and i just cant get enough staring at it!!!!
im on my last week of vacation and i just had to go to work to try it out :)
(after closing hours to make sure i could play it the way it should be :D)
acuoustically its hot.. it vibrates so violently you feel every note on the left thumb as much as you hear it.. all over the scale, not just on a single range of notes!
the coating is almost satin like, smooth but not sticky, yet it has a more "blank" feeling that a regular satin type. not so much like suede leather if you know what i mean :)
so i plugged it into the ampeg rig we got in the store... HOLY cr*p!!!
bridge pickup only has a jazz character but it still got the bite of a presicion. the bottom is huuge, but hey.. that ampeg rig even makes my jazz sound fat :)
so off with a lil bit off bass, a wee bit top on and you got instant jaco fun.. heheh
the neck pickup is even fatter and sounds mean. again a bit presicion like (you know the klank and the sizzling top) but oh so fat and lovely compressed.. really makes those ghost notes heard! and the freakiest part is that the pickup balance gives so much variation in sound by just a tiny lil twist on it.. this thing got ****loads of different sounds!!!!
for thumping i prefered the neck pickup with a lil twist of bridge in it.. centered it gave a sound that was just too intense. i guess it might cut through everything in a mix, but alone it was too much :D

and now for the all important pictures.. hehe..
they are taken with my cellphone in fluorescent light so quality might have been better.. i photoshopped them for all it was worth ;)

hehe.. looks like critters chewed on the pickguard, but its just the plastic that is a bit worn.. gonna strip that off anyways :)

i am very excited to see how the 20th and 30th are compared to this one.. :)
if its on the same level i cant be disappointed!

(goin home with the bass to make some more BUM BUM sounds! :D)

Nice, are the poles black ? Is that some sort of "Blue-ing" like they do to gun metal ? That looks very cool. What else is different about the Stealth ?

the only non-black thing ive found on the whole bass are 2 small nylon washers between the body and the straphangers :D

hehe.. im still up at 3am playing the thing.. just cant stop smiling!

the frets are perfectly polished, and even though it has been used as demo bass earlier there are no signs of sharp ends on them either. that is a common problem this far north.. heh.. as soon as electrical heating season starts humidity drops to 20% and below.. any sign of wood shrinkage then and youll cut your hands!
there are no fret buzzes anywhere, and its setup pritty low. i prolly should see if i can play it with the neck completely straight. i bet it would work beautifully :)

/me bows in respect of the whole eb company.. from the man with the plan (working neck joints (http://www.ernieball.com/forums/mus...story-neck-joint.html?highlight=bongo+stealth) :D) to the ones busting their behind off to make these fine instruments!

it just resonates so much i can swear its alive.. beats the crap out of any bass ive ever tried. my tobias has one sweet asymetrical neck, but it sounds like poo. my fender has honk and more dead notes than there are mosquitos in alaska and thats about it. ive had and tested some basses throughout the years and just to do what gwb does so well (getting the point through) ill repeat it once more: this baby beats every bass ive ever laid my hands on :D

MrM

ps: ill try to get some better shots of it next week :)
