we re gonna have to sort out some new acronyms. I thought this was about the game changer GC rather than the guitar centre GC lol! Cool prices and stock though.

What do you all think of that 25th SR5HH Quilt top with the RW fretboard in the link?

I've used only maple for bass and have a roasted maple now but I'm interested in how well I would like the RW compared to maple.

RW boards tend to have a very slightly darker/richer sound. The 25th naturally has a lot of sparkle up top, so I personally think the Rosewood balances that very nicely.

Honestly, you won't know until you try it.... But I highly recommend you try it!!! These are ridonculously good prices!

+1 on what Matt say's on a normal maple neck, but I had the exact Roasted you have for a week and returned it (Totowa NJ) as for me it was to close tonally to my Rosewood board 25th. Maybe the Roasted process darkens the tone, at least it did on the one I had. It was hard to return just for it's beauty. Your best bet is to find a rosewood to play out your way. The 25th's are sick and just need to be demoed, if you can't get to one check out Ed Friedland's demo's. Have fun.

I bought that 25th 5HH Quilt Top on the GC Platinum.

I bought the roasted 2 weeks ago and was looking at the 25th. I was showing it to my wife and she said if we could get $500 off that price to buy it. The next day the price dropped so, after looking at it for a few days and waiting for it to be sold, I called the store on Saturday and had them put it on hold until I could to my local GC and pay for it. I did that yesterday and it's shipping out today.

What really sold me was the Ed Friedland demo on this bass. I saw it before laneline posted but he was right on with his recommendation. I was on the fence until I saw everything it could do.

It didn't dawn on me until last night that I still have two weeks to return the roasted if I decide to. I don't now yet if that's what I want to do but for practical reasons I won't rule it out until I have a chance to play on the 25th. Decisions, decisions. :)

First big congrats on snagging a killer deal on the 25th, nothing better than getting a green light from the CFO and have it fall into your lap, while you have the SR5 would you do a little tone A/B on the two?
I would love to know if you find there is much separation tonally between them, as I found them to be really close ( too close for me). I just kept my amp flat and both basses flat and in active. I'm wondering if it was just the particular neck I had or
it's a characteristic of the Roasted to be darker than a standard maple neck. Thanks, all the best , Rick

Thanks Rick. I'll be checking them out this weekend. Either way I know I'll have a great working bass, or two, to keep me busy.
