here is a problem,BP says only mark it up $150 and thats so cool you really do have to love the guy.

But what happens over this side of the pond is far from that.I know its not cool to give prices on the forum so I wont. But I will ask you to check it out for yourself the price increase is insane,I would not be so mad about it if the price was due to SLO because they do all the extra work and they should get more money for it.
What gets me p1ssed is its some shop owner cashing in on the fact that its a LE and raising the price to the high heavens to make a quick buck.

I know we say this all the time but I really could buy a flight state side buy a EBMM (any model) and still have change, with the difference in the LE model I could stay in a hotel for a week!!!

I know and understand BP can not do anything about this.It just really gets me going that I pay through the nose for a quality product and the money does not even go to the guys who do all the fine work.

Sorry! had to get that off my chest. Its just that i would love to buy a SR5 LE but its way past my means.

Just wait a few weeks, and you'll find a used SRE LE on ebay and in this forum. If you're patient you'll save a truckload, and still get a great bass. I can't remember any LE or Anniversary model where there weren't used ones for sale here within a matter of weeks of people getting them in their hot little hands. Someone will lose their job, fry the transmission in their truck, get engaged, get divorced, or need a knee replacement before too long.

They all come with a matching headstock ($100 RETAIL)
Sparkle burst finish (easy $200 RETAIL)
The case costs are extremely high
Inlay material/production cost
Production, scheduling, engineering, sales, ect...These are the reasons why there is a $500 retail upcharge....it should really be higher.

As i said in my post If the money was going straight to you guys I would very happy.$500 extra is still little money for the product up grades we get.

I was just making a point the retailers in the uk making a killing on the LE editions.
Over here we are talking 4 times that amount.

It was just a bit of a shock when Jack said BP only wanted to mark the bass up by $150,then I went to price one and it was nearly a months salary extra then a standard SR5

I know the option is to wait untill one comes up second hand,I have owned 2 MM and both where bought second hand.it would just be nice to own one from new.Anyway rant over,I know you cant stop retail prices any more than you can stop the weather:p

Mind you if you could do anything about the weather i would be very greatfull,on day 47 i think of rain (lost count after 40)

To be absolutely clear, this was regarding the DDs only, which were a bit special even within the legally non-binding definition of "special edition".

Keep in mind that retail upcharge for any other special edition has been more.

Jack

PS: Also remember that your non-US dealers are responsible for getting those instruments shipped and into your country of origin - and we all are much smarter now about how spendy that process can be, right?
