Lemon oil is pretty common stuff found in almost any grocery or hardware store. Generally right there with the Pledge and other cleaning supplies.

The furniture polish has all kinds of things you do NOT want on your bass or definitely NOT on your fingerboard - wax, specifically, which builds up and is hard to remove.

You guys need to use pure lemon oil for your (rosewood) fingerboards, or buy the commercially available stuff that is made for fingerboards. Dunlop makes a kit that works well.

Use guitar polish for your basses, not Lemon Pledge or other chemicals made for furniture! The Martin guitar polish is excellent and doesn't leave a build up of weird stuff on your finish, as most inexpensive furniture polishes will.

Also, the Ernie Ball guitar polish is excellent.

Cheers Jakc - nothing but lemon oil for my board now.

I don't even use polish on the body etc either now - I found something called an 'e' cloth which is superb.

I'm also leaving my basses out to 'dry' after rehearsal/gig so that any moisture accumated can evaporate.
