There is no finer instrument made, in my humble opinion than the EBMM SR5!
sr5-body.jpg

I just got this well worn road dog, a 1990 to be exact and it is a truly amazing instrument. I can remember the very first SR5 I had. It was the same year and same finish but someone had jacked it up by trying to put some other pup in it. Despite the total hack job, I was amazed at how the bass played. I soon found a second just before I joined the Army and she was Trans Teal, really it was Green. I had that bass for a few years before getting my long lost, beloved...a 2002 Trans Teal that I had for a few years. It was THE Armybass and I dearly miss it. I picked it off of a wall of 10 SR5's at the shop where I worked. It had mojo. I have had many, many SR5's. Some famous, others not so famous but I have loved them all. This one is a true playa. I have had tons of basses and this particular model and brand is the one that always feels like home and it is indeed, my sound.

Thanks Sterling!

As a long-time (some might say 'frequent') lover of SR5s, you need to try a 20th, Scott.

Really. You know me, I love my Bongos and I'll never give them up, but there is something very special about the 20th SR5s.

Indeed, the SR5 is the best thing since canned bread!
(That's really good, actually, in a weird kind of way.)
Ten solid years of beatings, droppings, collidings, scrapings, stumblings, fumblings, etc...and my SR5 still ROCKS like nothing else.
Fear and intimidation caused by my bass motivated a very talented bassist in a local band to get a SR5 HH to compensate.
He is now ultra-happy and sounds like Thor's right hand. I now feel jealous.
I fix up chips and such occasionally, but it's 10 years old, and it looks it.
Couldn't be happier with the instrument! Stays in tune without fail under terrible conditions, makes any amp sound good, and the low B is monstrous, ESPECIALLY in the studio!
I would never sell it, but it's nice to know it would be appreciated by someone else if I had to.

(Yeah, right! I'd sell my blood six months out of the year first.)

These instruments just speak to me. They are tuned to the sound in my head or vise versa. The clarity and articulation alone are awesome but then there is just the greasy funk that they can dish out to boot. It hangs perfectly on me and fits my hands. It is hard to describe.

Scott, that is a heck of a good looking SR5...

and you hit the nail on the head. They are IT for some of us.

...and someday I'll get to play a 20th...
