I posted this on the bass forum as well. Could annyone tell me how a bass sounds thru a regular Pod 2.?. Can it be done with decent results? And on the flip side of that, has anyone ever tried a guitar thru an original Bass Po? I know it's a bass processer, but it has that Brit Major or whatever it's called setting that's got me wondering. In case you hadn't guessed, I have both a bass and guitar Thanks for any info that you can give!

I have a POD 2.0, and it sounds fine through mine. I have an el-cheapo bass with active pickups, so I can tweak it a little from the bass itself. I run the POD into my mixer to thicken it up through the EQ on the board a little, and it sounds fine. As long as I get a good clean signal down on the track, I can make it sound like whatever I want during mixdown with plugin's.

Give it a shot and see what you think. If you don't think it works, you can always get a bass POD later.

Good luck!

I have a POD XT, but to tell you the truth, the more and more I play, the less and less I use it. The amp modeling is cool and I think if you're gonna go direct in for recording it's a wonderful thing. But for gigging, if you have an EBMM and a nice rig, that's really all you need.

I hate the pod's, i think they sound just awful. nice valve amp, EBMM guitar, what more do you need? Of course i understand the recording benefits, but every time i've been in a situation in the studio where a pod has come up, it never sounds as good as a real valve amp. though there has been times where i've been forced to use one where i didnt have an amp, needless to say i've blocked those bad days out of my mind.....

oh, this a bass question, woops

There no reason why it souldn't sound just fine.

I love my pod xt, and have used it to record many a song, and it sounds good!.... it's fun to play with too.

And with the latest round of updates on the PodXT, you can buy the bass amp pack and turn it into a bass pod. Handy for the budget home studio.

Now that sure is handy. I've played guitar for a lot of years, but recently started playing at bass at church instead. Anyway, they have an SWR LA15 ( I think that's the model, decent amp , too) that I use. So I really wouldn't need it ( a POD) for playing there unless I decided to. I guess I really don't need it at all, but you know how we get when we start thinking about gear:D, and it would be nice to have something to play through headphones at home, too. In reality, I could just play through my guitar amp at home as I've been doing. Just don't crank that badboy!!

I got a Pod XT Live (the guitar version), and that comes with bass amp models etc. In fact Line6 have just released a bass amp expansion pack for the guitar XT Live. Its increasingly looking like Line6 don't appreciate the bass

I love the pod xt too. I run it via the return of my Marshall Valve amp.

It gives the Marshall sooooomuch more versatility. I run it with an FBV floorboard and love it.

Back to the topic - I know 2 Bassplayers with Pods
Burke Shelley with Budgie - and he likes it
and Barry (down the pub) and he doesn't like it.

Horses for courses I guess!!!

I did let our Bass player borrow my POD 2.0 while his amp was being fixed. He has a Yamaha JM thingy (myung), and he said it was pretty cool, but only for practising. And that's all I use it for really. Any live playing or serious recording I do and I use my Valve amp. They are useful little tools. But I just don't get the same buzz as I do from a rig.
