i have just come into the possession of a Pod Version 2.0, however the person i got it off had no idea how to use it and after many hours i cannot get any sound out of it apart from feedback which is the same whether a guitar is plugged in or not!! there was one time i got some sound but i have no clue as to how i made it happen.
Could anyone give me some simple instructions on getting started using it like when to press the tap button or something. it is very frustrating i have never seen anything like this machine surely it can't be that complicated to use??

sounds like you have a busted unit
i used to have a pod 2.0 they are very easy to use and you should not have that much trouble getting a good sound out of it

now i use a vox tonelab i like it a lot more

The Vox is supposed to be teh better amp simulator. The Line 6 is better if you want a specific artists tone because you can download patches off the net. If you just want effects, and no amp sim, then try the Boss GT8. The effects are higher quality than the other two, just switch the preamp simulator off.

I haven't heard the Vox pedal you speak of, but I have played with many of PODs and Line 6 stuff. I would recommend the Vox. The problem I have with Line 6 stuff is the EQ'ing. The different amp modes are SOOOOOO internally EQ'ed, that the EQ knobs are pretty useless. I can turn the mid all the way from 0 to 10 and not have a very big change in tone. That bothers me alot.

I prefer/need the EQ to have more flexability. I would highly recommend trying any Tech 21 distortion pedal. Even the MXR Double Shot has great EQing. It's meant for metal but the midrange knob is SO vast, you can get great normal rock sounds out of it.

I don't mind multi effects pedals for the most part when used for JUST the effects and not the Amp section. That's just me and my 2 cents.
