I was super excited to see the new classic candy basses come out. I checked one out at the local Perfect Bass. I was let down cause it seemed to have a really tinted orange to it. Yesterday I went to new orleans and they had a classic stingray. it was red they had a coral red next to it. Anyways. It was THE red I have been looking for. Id rather buy from TPB, so to confim it was just the lighting in TPB giving it an orange tint I asked the sales person at GC to tell me what the tag said on it as it was high up.

It red lipstick red.. Never heard of this color.. It IS a classic so is it safe to say its just classic candy? Im going re check out the classic at TPB shortly. Its nice living 5 miles from the perfect bass.

The Classic series Candy looks like it certainly leans toward orange, and the regular production have Candy Red which I have on my BA5 and is all Red. But maybe GC has a finish exclusive to them. I've bought 12 form James and crew, great store, I hope they can help you but of course the most important thing is you finding the MM bass works for you. Good luck in your search.

I have been looking at the classic SRs at GC here in Rochester. They have had a Lipstick Red there for a while. I noticed it because it is a vivid red, not Candy Red. I had to look at the hang tag to see what color it actually was because it was so different. Talk about standing out......

IMG_20110610_153518.jpg I had taken this picture months ago at a visit to the local GC. And in this lighting it does appear to be a little on the orange side. But I don't remember it looking orange in the store. I'll have to stop there this week and look again. Maybe take another picture!

029.jpg I went back to GC today and talked to one of the sales people to allow me to take a picture of the Lipstick Red Classic. I explained to them that I wanted to get an accurate picture of the color, and when I use my Iphone it doesn't take an accurate picture under fluorescent lighting. They have an area in the managers office where they take pictures of used equipment that they take in that has incandescent lighting. So the attached picture is as accurate as I could get with my Iphone! Hope this helps........

Cool colour.
Your picture shows the classic candy to be an almost bright red through to brick red colour but I'm guessing it changes quite a bit with lighting.

That's what I love about these EBMM colours - no-one could call them one dimensional! My Classic in coral red looks pink in some lighting, bright red in others, and towards orange in some types of light!! Best described as salmon pink with a strawberry tinge to it I think - it's more complex than Fiesta Red which tends to look one colour to me.

Like it, the lipstick red looks more vibrant than the candy red. Thanks for taking such a good picture.

well I got a pretty good discount on one yesterday and put it on layaway.. Great color, while I am normally a maple guy [and this bass is maple] Im really starting to always prefer the looks of rosewood. Im a little nervous on of that. But it was a great playing bass my first 2 band I love the mutes.
