Hi all,
Just came on board, but been getting some really good info on EBMM on here for awhile now.
I've read all the recent posts on the LF/CL pick ups. Just wonder if anybody had further experience with these they could share. Especially how they compare to the old pups config on the older JP6.
I'm especially interested in the Liquid Fire for the neck position.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I haven't tried either of them but there have been a few forumites who have done some comparisons you might try the search feature. If I remember right I believe the crunchlab is less bassy and more mid ranged (someone correct me if I am wrong)

Thanks. i've read up on those posts. Just wonder if anybody had any recent experience with them.
A student of mine is picking them up in about a week when he goes to NYC, so I'm trying to decide if I should get him to grab a pair for me too.:)

I have the Liquifire/Crunchlab set in my DDII BFR JP7. I like them much more than the D-Sonic/Petrucci Custom Neck. They seem to sound a bit more aggresive and seem to be clearer sounding as well.

I have both configurations in my two Petruccis and the new pups are definitely more aggressive. The neck pup is less bassy than the original, and sounds great. I love them both, you cant go wrong either way.

The Crunch Lab & Liquifire sound warmer to my ears. Also, more output and a tighter sound. I like them the best of all three offerings thus far in the JP line. I own a JP Standard, but have played a BFR JP6 with the D-Sonic/Custom and it sounded incredible.

I only tried them at a GC when dropping to pick up picks.

I didn't notice TOO much difference (could be that it was the first time and on an amp im not used to) but there's definitely more punch.

yep, I have to agree the LF and CL is warmer to my ears also,
though the Air Norton is also good, and sounds a bit close to the LF. :)

but there is something in the Steve's Special that I dont like, maybe thats just me.
:)

thanks a lot for this post :)

I bought a JP6 a week or so ago with the special JP pick ups and I like the sound of it. However, I am also awaiting a JP7 BFR. I may purchase a Liquid Fire and Crunch Lab set to drop into the JP7. I can't decide!

The Crunch Lab is more open sounding than the D-Sonic. Seems to have a broader frequency response. The Liquifire is probably one of the smoothest neck pups I've tried. It really gets that super smooth lead/solo tone...very "liquidy" while still being punchy.
