Been thinking of makeing the switch to markbass from Gk, LOVE THE VL knob, may go with the 12" combo, or maby the head alone for my ampeg 8x10. Anyways I want to be able to rackmount it, however I don't want to use the big rack ears, I guess my only option is some sort of case.. Any hard cases I can look at? Or should I just go with something generic.

I use a padded laptop case for my LMII, but if I needed a hard case I'd go with a briefcase style case with a foam insert like Freddels posted.

I'm afraid none of the products suggested above will be able to fit the 12" combo Spencer talked about.

Well then he ought to know that you can't "rackmount" a combo. Read the post again, slowly. The case was for if he went with the "head alone" option.

Jay, you RULE, laughed soo hard, and then I see you were serious which made it all even better!

The fact is, I have somewhat the same problem at this time. I'm looking for a couple of cases that would fit my MarkBass cabs. Guess I'm gonna have them custom made.

Now, if you really stick on a case for the LMII, I still think the best protection is a 2U rack, with the optional MarkBass ears to adapt.

Until then, I've had nothing but respect for the MarkBass OEM bag for my LMII LE.
It's the ticket~!

+1 on the OEM bag. everything you need covered is covered, and gives you a zip pocket for the power cord and two speaker cables. I don't use the detachable backpack straps. A great designed product.

I think there was some NAMM 2010 video coverage of Peter Murray and the new hard case. check Markbass' website.

I will probably go for that hardshell one when it's released, but I've been using the softcase for the LMKII for a while now and just love it! Straps right on my back, holds speaker cables/power cable/tuner, and just fits so perfectly! I never take it out! A really well-thought out product.

I use the soft case. It was a good case, until the zippers started busting ...which is a common issue with these, unfortunately.

I'm really looking forward to replacing it with one of the LM hardcases.

I,ve been using the Markbass softcases for over two years and have had no problems. Great design and the backpack straps are great if you need to free up your hands.
I used the hardcase with the Momark head last winter in Europe . Built solid and showed no wear after 34 shows.

I had my f1 in a light weight skb case. Worked great and only weighed 8 lbs. My 800 LMT I have in a Gator soft case with a tuner and rack light/power conditioner. Still light weight and I can use it with my ampeg portabass 2-12 cab or my markbass 108 cab for bigger gigs. I mounted the 800 on a rack shelf that came with the Gator. Which works better than rack ears because I can mount the head to the the side and have extra storage next to it.
