The first thing I did when I got my 'Ray almost a year ago was break the case lock. It hasn't been a problem until recently, when I moved in with other people. I don't like other people playing my Stingray because of the unfinished neck, and I can't trust the people around here once they get a few beers in them...

So, is this a customer service thing? And would I just get a replacement lock, or would I have to send the entire case away?

If you can't trust your roomates to respect your wishes and not touch your gear, then it's time to move out.

But to answer the question about the case, you'd either have to buy a new one, or have a local repairman fix it, because the locks are riveted in place. The old rivets have to be drilled out to remove the broken lock.

My room mate would be minus a testicle!

I've been married to the lovely and talented Mrs. Darling for 16 years. And even SHE isn't allowed to touch my Dargie!

Over the years, I've accidentally broken a couple case locks thinking that they were just stuck when they were actually locked. I can't imagine that a standard case lock would do much to deter a drunken roommate.
