Locking Knobs

When I'm Double Thumbing on my Bongo I tend to hit the volume knob. Any suggestion on how to "lock" the knob so it won't move if I hit it.

How would I tape it? What kind of tape wouldn't leave a residue on the paint.

You would put tape on it. That's how you'd tape it.

I'd say scotch tape.

Blue paint masking tape. It's designed to leave no residue.

There's a more elegant way. Go to the hardware store and get some rubber or plastic washers of the appropriate size to fit underneath the knob. Take the knob off, put on the washers, and put the knob back on, pressing down on the washers enough so that you can turn it, but there's some resistance.

wow I just took the knob and the pot is low enough so I don't hit but still have full control over it. I can always put the knob back on.

I have the same problem with my Stringray. The answer is to quit slapping you wanker!

be a man and bypass the volume pot, then remove the pot altogether.

Amps have volume knobs and Ernie Balls' got a volume pedal if you want one.

I've seen this done with gaffers tape, kinda of a clothe tape that sticks well but doesn't leave alot of goop behind.

Put an "O" ring under the knob.

Couldn't you just bend it to the point it never moved again? Set where you want it hit it with a hammer. If it still moves hit it agian kind of thing.

Well, if you'll be able to play that on a upright bass held horizontally, then I must admit I'd be really, really impressed!
