Not really EBMM related but, I have a JP6, I will be purchasing straplocks and bla bla and I hope to get a BFR JP-F1 and a JP7 at some point in the near future so please don't delete me as I trust you guys on here so I trust your advice.

Phew. Right, I have a 100 watt amp head with an Ohmage selector on the back.
4, 8 or 16 ohms.

The speaker im running it into is a very old 2x12 with very tired celestions. I do want to replace them at some point but for now, they are wired in series and both say 16 ohms on the back.

So they are wired like so: amp output ---->O---O

What should the impedance be? I know that selecting the wrong impedance will hurt the valves in my amp. Any help and advice would be mucho apprecaited as I only replaced the valves like a year ago. Cheers!

P.s. Who else will be looking out for Nigel Tufnels Global Thermometer tomorrow? Showed my girlfriend a pic and her first comments were "What the hell is that?....You're not buying one!" To wit i said "Yea, I think some guy called DaveB would have something to say about that!"

I think we should set odds and place bets on who will get it :D

Anyhoo, coffees getting cold so see ya!

It isn't your tubes which are in danger, it's your transformer!

Are you sure those 2 16 ohm speakers aren't wired in Parallel? That would make for 8 ohm out on your amp.

Ermmmmm.........the speaks are wired like this:

Amp out put in to speaker 1 which then is wired to speak 2. I would have thought parallel means that the output is wired directley to both speakers at the same time. On mine its in to one, then the other.

How many wires connect speaker one to speaker two? In other words, how many wires go from the terminal(s) of speaker one to the terminal(s) of speaker 2. How many wires are connected to each of the two terminals on each speaker. If we have this info we can tell you series or parallel.

Sounds like they're wired in parallel.

K. The speaker lead connects to the input of the speaker. This then splits into 2 wires. 1 red and 1 black. the red wire goes into a terminal on speaker 1 and so does the black wire. The black wire is also connected to the same terminal as the red wire on speaker 1. So the Red wire is in 1 terminal and the black wire is in both. The wrise then travel to speak 2 where they are connected to one terminal each. Does that make any sense?

Got it. Thanks candid. Looks like they are wired in parallel after all. Thing is I'm getting a sudden increase in volume every now and again. Im guessing it's prob the speakers as the valves arent too old. What dya think? They are very very old speakers.
