So, my 10-year student that I've been bugging his parents for months to buy him a Sub guitar finally broke down and bought him a guitar. Unfortunately, the call from GC came and I wasn't home. The choice was between a Gretch and Fender. Uggg. I don't know what they bought, but it wasn't an EB.:( Gretch? Somehow he got steered down that path and it wasn't by me.

BUT, there is hope! A guy I work with just cancelled his preorder for an expensive guitar of the month Gibson. Soooooo......he's really digging the Luke. He went to GC and played one and really liked it. We may have another convert yet. He likes the 2008 color big time, so maybe he'll go for it. :)

It usually comes down to the cost... Once you see past that and realize you get what you pay for only then will the path of righteousness open up!

I wish I had a Gretch or Fender at 10 years old. My first guitar at 12 or 13 was basically sub-standard firewood with six strings on it. Oh it was bad.

That's why I was steering them toward a Sub. It's the perfect guitar for a kid, because the parent doesn't have to drop $1500. They can drop $400 and get a killer instrument. Then the kid is hooked on EB.

Unfortunately, the other guy that was leaning toward a MM went with a Gibson Guitar-of-the-month. It is a pretty nice guitar, but for the price he paid, it's certainly no EB. :( He could have bought a BFR for the same price, but oh well. The little kid went with an Aerodyne Strat, which is a better choice than a Gretch (for what he plays). Nicely built, but the pickups sound don't sound too inspiring (I'm refraining from any sort of bashing).

So, I'm 0/2 this time out. I'm sorry I have let down the forumites with my failure to convert the average humans to the way of knowledge. Feel free to ban me from the forums.

NO! There is another... :D

You've planted the seeds, man, that's all you can do! I fear there's no hope for your Gibson friend, there's still hope for the young one though!
