Boy what a busy weekend. I have been itching to share my news but the site was down.:mad:

First, we played a gig at my work Holiday Party (formerly know as a Christmas Party). Had a blast! Used my Bongo and loved it. we got to play for about a hour (we wanted to do more, but there was other activities planned for the night. So here was the set list:

Should I Stay or Should I go
I Love Rock and Roll
Stuck in the Middle with You. (That's a fun Bass Line)
Waiting on the World to Change
Come Together (So happy to finally get to play this)
Give a Little Bit (Bass line is great in this song)
This Love
Beast of Burden
Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy
Love Shack
Hard to Handle
Pride (In the Name of Love)

Now on to the second bit of news. I have too much gear. We have a subwoofer for the PA which is really not necessary. My bass sounds better just via the amp rather than through the PA. So I sold the sub today. And then I also sold my Sterling. Yes, you heard me correct. I sold my Sterling. And picked up a BIG AL!!

So the Big Al is exactly like the one on the MM website. 4SSS with rosewood neck. Black with tortoise shell pick guard. Camera is busted, so no pics right now.

What a weekend!!!:)

Ok, so I have had it for one day and here is what I can report. Specifically here are some settings that I like so far:

1. Neck PUP only, Passive: Use this for Beatles covers. Also sounds good on Stand by Me or anything that might have used an upright bass. Add bridge PUP and you have a little more zing for these types of songs

2. Middle PUP only, Passive. Old School Motown sound. Switch to active and it sounds like a more modern Motown sound.

3. Bridge PUP only, Passive: Jaco sound. Switch to active and you got Jaco on steroids.

4. All three buttons up and on active. This is, of course, bridge and middle in series. Roll up the high mids a tad and I have the MM growl. I use this for all the ballsy rock songs we play. LOVE this setting.

5. All three buttons up and on passive. I use this when I am using my Big Muff Pi. Passive seems to sound better via distortion pedal, to me anyways.

6. Bridge and middle, and on active. If I don't want to think and want an all round setting that pretty much sounds good with anything, I would probably use this. It just works.

So thats my report so far...

I'd love to see how the faces melted with that Bongo playin the first 8 notes of the "should I stay or should I go" riff. No need for the guitard to cover you either.

Actually the guitard started the riff, then I joined in. Rolled the PUP control to bridge and was one of the rare times I used a pick. Sounded great!:D

Congrats on the Big Al! Play it in good health! It's a beauty of a bass! You'll love all the tones you can get out of that thing. The neck profile is so effortless!
