Hey,

Just after buying a JP6 BFR at the weekend!!Unbelievable instrument...At the moment the action is slightly too high for my playing style...does anyone know how to lower the action on this type of guitar???

Thanks
Kil Tobin:)

I found this response from Pete Dubaldo in another thread;

Give the truss rod a tweak first! Tightening it by 1 hole at a time will lower the action, while loosening it 1 hole at a time will raise it.

If that doesn't get you right about where you want to be, then turn the saddle screws small amounts. Make sure you turn them the same amount keeps them at the same radius as the fretboard. If the top of the tremolo plate is pretty much flush with the face of the body, and even from side to side, then do not touch the two big screws!

If all else fails, call EB CS or swing on over to your local tech

It is a balancing act on a floating bridge that you may not want to screw with unless you are familiar with this type of work. I'd take it to the place you got it from and have their guitar tech set it up to your preferences as the trouble may not necessarily be at the bridge.

Dan Earlwine has a book on setting up your guitar to make it play great.

To anyone interested in this, I highly recommend the book. None of the standard tips are difficult. But sequenced correctly and done patiently leave you playing a very finely tuned machine.

Have fun!

Do a search here for setup tips. In a nutshell, first get the neck straight (with a bit of relief) using the truss rod. That will probably fix your issues. If not, adjust the trem level and saddle heights if need be. Lots of threads here on how to do that.

If you're nervous, take it to a tech (and watch while he does it!).

Strange thing about EBMM guitars... They're the ONLY guitars I dare to adjust any setup work on it myself. All my other guitars go to a tech. Either I'm too lazy to try working on the rest (like Fenders with a 50/60's styled truss rod), or EBMM has made it so simple to adjust by myself... Heh...
