Hi there,

My luke 3 hss humbucker pu has lower volume output than the singles, I want the output balanced even with the others. Since there is no adjustment possible because of the fixed screws, is there a solution for this?
I'd rather not put springs or foam under the pickups, they ought to be balanced by the factory since they are not fixable, but there not..
There are 2 adjustment screws inside for the preamp, 1 changes the amount of the boost, the other should balance positions1-3 to 2-4, but i cannot hear any difference turning it. And does the adjustment only work when the push knob is out?

Anyone?

Thanks in advance

If that balance screw is not working then change the battery. If the adjustment still isn't working, then contact customer service. That adjust should work

Thanks for your reply,

the preamp adj screw only applies for the single coil positions, not the humbucker position (5). I cannot hear any difference in volume balance between the humbucker and single coil pu's. I do hear difference between the balance between only the singles.
Should it also be changing the volume balance between the humbucker and single coils? I can't find anything in the specs about this.
Thanks

I had the same problem as you.

The singles were harsh and the humbucker seemed weak compared to them.
I turned of of the inner screws backwards and everything was back to normal.

There are two inner screws, one controls the "push push tone boost" level and the other controls the "permanent boost" on the singles.

Turns out that the adjustment screw balances singles with humbucker and not "lever position 2 & 4 level" as mentioned in specs.
I was focusing ont the singles while adjusting and noticed the humbucker volume drop after I put the plate back...
Maybe the First Luke III's (mine is 2012 with the pushush on the TONE knob) have a different preamp adjustment wise?

Anyway problem solved, thanks for your replies!

When I bought my second Luke III, it was un-usable for me but after a simple screw turn, it was back to normal!

Enjoy it, it's a fantastic guitar!

Sorry for posting in this necro thread, but which screw is which as you're looking at it? My LIII's singles are also louder than the HB. I'd like to back it down a tad.

On my LIII the left screw are for adjusting the Singlecoil volume and the screw on the right next to it are for adjusting the boost volume.

Cheers
