Hello,

I have a Luke 3 for few month , the full humbucker position seems a bit quieter than the others positions , in a volume point of view , but also in a "spectral" density for the sound ( though to explan :)).
I had the late version of Luke 3 with musicman pickup.
I see there are already topic about this , but i don't find an accurate answers, because trimpot seems to not doing balance between humbucker and middle and neck pickup.

Edit : I did some comparison with an Ibanez AZ Humbucker , and the Musicman humbucker as more volume, so seems it's not a wiring issue , but just a "balance" issue

Edit 2 : Picture of my Luke III , deep blue color.

The humbucker has more mids than the single coils (due to the higher inductance of the pickup) so it will sound less "dense". That's part of the deal with HSS guitars, really. But since it has more output in a narrower frequency band, it will sound much hotter when you crank up the gain on your amp

In terms of balance, one of the two trimpots on the board adjusts the compensation of the single coils (the other one adjusts the amount of boost). If you turn the compensation trimpot down you should notice the output difference between the single coils and humbucker. Personally I always set this pot all the way down, I don't want the singles to be as loud. It's not going to be a drastic difference, but you should be able to hear it.
