Hi guys. And hi JDouglee! I have a confession. I didn't buy a Luke last summer! The dealers were being such prats about ordering and taking a deposit that I eventually ended up buying an Ibanez Universe UV777PBK. I never thought I'd buy another Ibanez after the crushing disappointment of my previous Jem, both in tone and build quality, but the Uni is a very different beast. Beautiful clean tone, masses of sustain (way more than the Jem) and yet really suits a straight connection through to my AVT150.

I recently (3 weeks ago) bought a Boss GT6 processor. What a little sod it is to get the tone sorted!!!! It's taken me this long to stop it sounding thin and reedy all the time. Finally discovered the 4 lead method and the Utility menu though, so all is fine and everything fat and rich again. However, it really tends to colour the Uni's tone dramatically, even with few effects turned on. Not too much of a problem on the bridge pickup but the neck now sounds like the GT6 is giving it a good beating. The lovely warm tone playing straight through is gone and it sounds like a muddier version of the bridge. :(

Anyway, to my point. I'm going for the Luke again, hopefully later this summer (got a bit of saving to do though) and wondered if anyone's tried it with the GT6? With the EMGs and Luke's own preference for effects, I wondered if it deals more successfully with effects and still retaining it's character?

I'll probably keep the Universe but can see it being used straight into the AVT most of the time. The Luke seems like a sufficiently different enough guitar that the two can coexist happily.
