the BFR has more low-midrange (probably because of the mahagony tone-block), and that's why it sound a bit bigger, or fatter.

Yes, that's it absolutely. It's a little thicker in the low-mids. That, and the cool colours it's available in ;)

Since you have a regular Luke w/ piezo go for the BFR...there is no question there. I personally want so many different EBMMs I really dont know what to get next. Still waiting on the Blackburst chambered Y2D :D. But I am really craving for a regular Luke.

Yeah i'd go for the BFR, the tone block does make a fair bit of difference. It gives a good reason towards buying the same model, but which in turn is still different :D

I think the Luke BFR differs tonewise from the standard Luke more than my Axis Supersport BFR does from the standard ASS. I put it down to the fact that the Luke gets two woods (mahogony tone block and maple cap) that you dont get on the base model. I've been through a few Lukes and the BFR is the only one still here. ;) It definitely sounds fuller and sweeter when A/B'd but dont expect night and day type differences, its a variation on a theme.

I would recommend you tracking one down to try first...not easy in France I know!

spkirby is right on the money. I had two regular Luke guitars that I loved before I got my BFR. The BFR sounds a bit richer, a little more sustain, differences I also think are down to the mahogany tone block and perhaps a little influence from the maple top.

It's a subtle difference, but I ended up selling the regular Lukes as they were not getting any playing time after the BFR arrived :)

Hey Starsky, just noticed you've shrunk the collection a fair bit. Where did they all go? I'm like a failed dieter with my guitars, the more effort I put in at trying to sell a few of the less used ones, the more I seem to end up! :D

I went through several EBMM models in my search for the perfect one for me, and keeping this on topic the BFR Luke is the result of that search :D
