Now that the Luke 3 has been revealed - I am curious what the differences were between the Luke 1 and Luke 2 ?

Luke I had a recessed Floyd trem and only the volume knob...no tone knob. Now you also have the BFR of course which has the mahogany tone black and maple cap. As per BP, the LUKE III has not even started yet...but I'm sure something cool is cooking.

Also, Luke 1 had different single coils, SA 57s (Luke 2 has SLVs), and was only available in Pearl Red or Pearl Blue.

Not entirely sure on this... but I think the Luke 1 also had a more pronounced V shape.

Well with everything that was available this year I am glad we have time to reload the guitar funds. I am also curios if the new Luke III means the end of the Luke II. I believe the Luke II is a much better seller these days than the Luke I ever was, so maybe they will keep producing it to coincide with the Luke III instead of discontinuing it like the Luke I.

I hope your right. I'm wishing the Luke III will be like the JPX to Petrucci's guitars. The Luke II is too good to discontinue :)

Having said that the Luke I is a cracker aswell :D

Does anyone have any details on the EMG SA57 pickups? Were these custom for Luke or are they the stock SA pickups? Can't find info on it.

They were custom wound for Luke. There were also available in his signature
EMG set until the Luke 2 was releases. They were Louder, darker and fatter
that the SL-Vs.

To me the 57's were more "Bold as Love" and the SL-Vs are more 50s vintage
sparkle.
