Hello all,

I am getting my first Musicman this week. It is a LUKE Blue Dawn Lefty!! I have heard that it is great for all styles of music from pop to metal and everything in between. I would love to hear from anybody on this topic. I am freakin excited to get it!!!

congrats man! you will love that guitar...

one of the best guitars ever... covers pretty much any style. with my koch twintone II i can go from knopfler, clapton, beck,... to the really hard stuff - it´s just an awesome axe! for me the luke is the perfect gigging instrument... especially when you need a versatile guitar.

an axe doesn´t make a good player. but actually i think ebmm´s make you play better:D

The Luke is a great guitar. Very versatile. There are some things that I just love about it. I just love the clean tones from the neck and middle pickups. Under distortion? Eh...not for me. There is just something in the sound that I am not really fond of, but I have considered buying one just for how much I love the clean tones. There's something that sounds too electronic for me in the distortion sound. Maybe, that's just the way it sounds with the Mesas I used with the Luke, but I think I'll hear that sound through any distortion on any amp. I think the guitar sounds great in the hands of a great player like Luke, Tyler, or Tristan with whatever they do. I love hearing them and their sound. There are obviously a lot of people on this board who like playing Lukes. It's a great guitar.

Just look for Steve Lukather clips on YouTube, and you'll see how versatile the guitar is. You'll also see how versatile he is.

In HSS guitars, I prefer to play something else. I like the Silo Special.

I work with forum member Cherub. Recently he bought a beautiful JP6 with all the bits, looks great and sounds great too. He has been using the JP for quite a few weeks now. He took the JP home to give it a good clean etc, and this weekend he played one of his Luke's.

I swear, he actually ripped the paint off the wall at the back of the club with the Luke, it was just amazing to hear him play the Luke again. In my humblest opinion, although I love the look of the PET, having seen Cherub play both for a prolonged period, the Luke wins hands down. Its not often you see the Luke's go on sale here, and there is a reason.

A Luke is the best kept secret in the guitar world, just try not to tell too many people;)

Yes, I love the color,I am getting it from the absolute best guitar shop for lefties, DrumCityGuitarLand.com. They are the best kept secret on the planet for lefties because they actually deliver quality guitars to left handed musicins.

It's the most versitile guitar i've ever owned !! You can nail the Kenny Wayne Shepherd tone with the front pickup and an overdriven clean tone. My Axis hasn't been seein' any love since mine arrived.

Nah Rob, I'm sorry, but I'd have to say that a 20th would be an excellent second. I agree an AL is wonderful, but the 20th is magical man. :)
