I just received my Luke True Gold and I am blown away. Awesome guitar and awesome pickups. The EMG X's have a much wider dynamic range of tone. I used a twin with the gain set at 4.5. I was able to achieve crunch and clean without touching the amp. I compared it to the Luke 1 which seems to have a much hotter pick up. I wasn't able to go completely clean and the crunch was much heavier. I assume that the Luke 1 and Luke II guitars have the same pickups? I've never really played a Luke II before this one and now its like playing two different guitars with the same great feel. EMG-X is a major improvement. Thank you Luke and EBMM!

Wow, what a great collection! I love my True Gold Luke too and am quite happy with the EMG-X pickups! I'm almost tempted to change them in my Dargie D2 Luke II...

The pickups in the Luke I are different than Luke II. Luke I has hotter single coils, but I think the bridge hum bucker is the same as LukeII. The single coil EMG's in the Luke I are specially wound for Mr. Lukather and were called SA57's. I really like these single coils over the stock Luke II's.

Thanks for clarifying the pickups. Hopefully EBMM will offer the EMG-X's soon as a possible option? I'm contemplating your black sparkle guitar, I foresee a project with that...but what to do?

it is all they say. It rings like a piano. And the TG is the perfect finish. Goes with everything. Stage lights change its color.
