Hello everybody,
this is my first post here...
I bought an used Luke II (I still have two Luke's with the floyd rose..) and I've noticed
that the distance between the pickups and the strings (expecially in the bridge one) it's really different than one on the old Lukes (way less..).
Is it normal choice of production to let them (Lukes II) sound a little bit different or
it could be only a mistake and I would have to find a way to fix it?
Regards

 a mistake ?

From EBMM side I don't think so :D

As I guess the body are made by machines so the pickup cavity should be exactly the same on all models.

Is that guitar new ? if not, check if the previous user used something to raise the pickup

BTW, pics are like you around here : very welcome :p

EMG's. get em up as high as you can. The magnets are extremely low power and are pre-amped instead, so get em high, they will not have any effect on your sustain and wont give you any problems by having the high.

EMG recommend having them as high as you can get em.

As for how the height compares between the Luke I and the Luke II, I have no idea, but I just thought I would say that having the EMG's high is fine and dandy.

WElcome btw:)

Hello,
I agree with you that with EBMM it's strange to think about a mistake..
The guitar is quite new and the previous owner is the kind of guy who buy and sell continuously..
Thx

Yes, I know EMG suggest to put their pickups as close as you can to the strings, but I was thinkin' too that having them a little bit far would let the sound of the body(wood) more involved in the overall sound, otherwise every EMG's equipped guitar could sound the same ...but maybe I'm wroung about it.
How far from the strings is the bridge pickup of your Luke II?
Thx
