Nice Luke!

Never had an L2, but my L3 is number one. I think its the most comfortable guitar ever and the pickup selection + boost genuinely covers "everything" (even though that's a tired expression). I try to sell people on them any chance I get!

I sold all my Luke IIIs but kept all the Luke IIs. I love the EMG SLV single coils but I swap the 85 bridge for a 57 or 57TW.

... so do I ! I 've got my first one 21 years ago. Small body, small neck profile and EMGs. To me it's a perfect combination.

acquired one in January (my first EBMM) and I love it. I thought I would hate the EMGs but, maybe because they are fixed and further from the strings than actives are usually set up, they sound a bit vintage clean but love to push gain too. I get tones out of this guitar that have zero business coming out of a guitar that looks so modern...but when it needs to do modern, it does that with aplomb.

Only complaint? The two outputs for EMG/Piezo form a large metal block that is heavy. It really throws the balance way off. No live gigs in the last 2 years so for now it's not a big deal. It's the only thing that bugs me; the rest of the instrument is sublime.

I’ve got the HH. I find the boost is a perfect remedy for any power loss when engaging the in between settings on the switch. It’s petty but I don’t care for the HSS appearance on most exposed tops (don’t mind it on my Cutlass).

So true, the small body and neck is one of the reasons I like this guitar so much
Also the way it plays, it's just an easy instrument to fall in love with

I still dig my LII. Those SLV EMG single coils are amazing. I guess if I’m being honest I basically never use the middle one. The neck one is as good a single coil as I’ve ever heard.

The SLVs are like an overwound single coil. That's why they have the punch, and when rolling the volume down a bit they clean up well too. The SLV is somewhat darker than the SA, as overwinding makes the pickup darker.

I kind of recall reading somewhere the SLVs are a slightly overwound version of the SA, but it's been a while since I read that and I'm not getting younger

I've read about this mod before and have come close a couple times just to try it out. But then I play it as is and I'm like "ya know what I'm good!" LOL

Yep! These were a pretty nice run, I was looking for a Luke right about when they dropped them. I think there were two flame necks and three birds eye in total. I got lucky enough to get the nicer of the two flames. There is a bit of gold flake to the finish that you can see in natural light with movement.

Out of my 4 x Luke's, the Luke II's are my go-to. Still my favorite. The body size, the EMG's, the stability, it's just all there.
