Hi folks,

Just about to pull the trigger on a Luke III BFR and just trying to decide what colour (Hazel or Blueberry) to go for but was wondering whether a matching headstock is an option. I've seen a Luke 2 in Blueberry with matching head but wondered if the roasted maple made it not an option?

As far as I know, EBMM don't do trans finishes on the roasted maple headstocks because the color of the headstock then won't match the body because of the brownish hue of the roasted maple. At least, that's what Tomas and Derek have told me. Not sure if they made any -- I'd be interested to see!

I thought that might be the case, though the Luke 2 I saw online in Blueberry looked lighter than the body.

The 2012 honey roasted PDN and the JP15 have it... But I think that's about it

Go with the blueberry. Absolutely gorgeous Guitar.
I own one and its stunning. Mine has the Coiltap as well as the boost on the volume and tone for Hss.
all around perfect guitar. Looks great, plays great, sounds great.

Thanks. Couple more questions. What are the frets on the BFR made of, and what's the warranty length on EBMMs these days?

The Luke's all have nickel frets. (Only the JP series has stainless frets) the standard warranty on EBMM guitars has always been 1 year from purchase date.

Thanks, Stratty. Was hoping they'd be stainless on the BFRs. Not a big issue but I like the way I never have to refret them!

I saw this pic of a Luke 2 on the Music Man Japanese store and hoped you could get the same option on a Luke III but I guess not...

My gold Axis is 19 years old and has never needed a refret. Unless you play super heavy or as much as Steve Morse you should be good with nickel.
