Hello,

I have since some weeks a new Luke 3 guitar with the vintage tremolo. I’m really happy with this guitar. I still have some questions regarding the tremolo…
The setup of the tremolo has not been changed and came setup as floating from my local store (guess original factory spec).

When bending a string I see that the tremolo is moving too (upwards away from the body, most effect when bending on G string). Guess this is normal as the tension is increasing on the string while bending. But wanted to be sure if this is a ‘known’ behavior?

Secondly I also notice when I really dig into the G string I hear the tremolo moving effect (vibration in tone)

Are these 2 things normal with the original factory setup?

Thanks!

Very normal. The tremolo is floating so bending a string pulls the string tighter stretching the trem springs.

If that is bothersome to you, you could remove the float and add more springs, but that will cause much of the setup to change so I would recommend you take the guitar to a technician to do this if you are unfamiliar

Totally normal...

But if you have a "heavy" right hand, you could ad an extra spring or two. Be aware that adding springs will change how much up pull you get, and how the system is behaving. Its not better or worse, just different :)

Getting a floating trem is a bit of a "dark art"... It takes a good deal of practice and experience getting it right. It's a case of learning by doing - just arm yourself with lots of patience, and some YouTube video instructions!

Good luck! :)
