What wiring does the L3 have there to get a split neck humbucker out of phase with the bridge humbucker? Does that have options to put the pickups in series, too?

Can somebody describe the switch positions on the L3?

WillyD,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that interview. Thanks for posting!

One highlight for me was Lukather's take on participation in any of the "karaoke" tv shows. Made me laugh out loud when I read his opinion. There was a lot of valuable and enjoyable Q and A, but the "karaoke" tv opinion was worth the price of admission for me!

Cheers,

Tom

You can d/l the wiring diagram here: Luke3

I haven't played one, but according to this, it's what you'd get on the AL HH, Axis Super Sport, etc. No out of phase positions.

Favorite quote was when he was asked the guitarist who influenced him the most and Luke answered George Harrison. Then followed that with THE ON SWITCH TO MY LIFE WAS THE BEATLES.

Doesnt get much better than that

Yeah looks very standard except for offering 2 positions for 2xsplit, once with the slug coils, once with the screw coils. No out-of-phase and no putting whole humbuckers in series with something else.

The thing that I really learned to value is two pickups in series but out-of-phase. Combines one brightening element and one darkening, getting the sound back to a normal distribution. But this gives you a very driven, powerful sound. Even better if you do that and can split or tap the neck pickup so that you only "subtract" half of a neck pickup's worth.

What a great read! Luke is a guy which always shares valuable info and insights.

I really hope he can do the book he speaks about. It will be mandatory reading!
