I just read that this is an evolving signature model. What are the differences and what years did these differences take place?

Thank you for any help/input.

The original Luke was introduced in 1993. It had a floyd, only a volume knob and EMG SA/SA/85 pups. It was only available in Pearl Red and Pearl Blue. The Luke II was introduced in 1998, and is equipped with EMG SLV/SLV/85 pups. At first, it was only offered in Luke Blue and Black. Changes were a vintage trem and a tone knob along with the different pups. Other colours became available around 2000/2001, as was the piezo option. Around 2007 the Luke BFR was available, sporting a mahogany tone block and a figured maple top. A lot of colours that were available at the start of the BFR got discontinued, such as tobacco burst, walnut burst and ruby burst. A year after the normal BFR Luke was introduced the KOA Luke was intruced, sporting a Mahogany body, a Koa top, gold hardware, mahogany neck.

Furthermore, there were limited editions of the Luke, such as the Dargies, the LE's, and some japanese specials such as the emerald green with gold hardware and the black sparkle reissue.

Is that enough info? :)

I think in 1995 they added a battery compartment to the back of the Luke. The earlier Luke I's had the battery stored in the control cavity.

I remember having my original Luke I in Blue Pearl and buying a newer, Luke I in Red Pearl. The red pearl Luke I had the battery compartment. A nice addition which is now on all of the current Luke's.

The Red Pearl Luke was modded by the original owner with a EMG89 with push/pull volume knob for coil split.
