Who on this God given planet is more versatile than Luke himself? No one.....the guitar is a tool he uses and he uses the EBMM with his namesake on it. The Luke can do whatever you want....take a look on Youtube...he will show you from metal (with Marty Friedman) to blues (nice little solo number) to whatever you want.

Koogs is 100% right, the Luke guitar is so versatile it's crazy, l love the guitar, if the action is too high put the third spring in and it brings the bridge flush with the body and lowers the action, thats how l have mine setup (i find the action too high as well) and they are awesome.

I say buy it, you'll love it, and will become your main axe.

Good luck.

Scott.

I had a Clapton Signature Strat that had a V-shape neck and in comparison, the Lukes neck is more asymmetrical which gives it a more worn-in kinda feel.

It's not the 'classic' V-shape from the 1950's and the fretboard radius is wider as well, so that adds to the playability, too.

It's a very comfortable "V" neck and plays very effortlessly. Not like my old Martin which I would call an uncomfortable "V" neck, you know the kind that makes your hand cramp because the action is also so high.

IMHO, of the guitars I've owned (not nearly as many as some here, by any stretch), the Luke II is my favorite neck. Never had an issue with the V, it's just such a great support for the thumb, I think it makes playing easier.

If I could purchase other models of guitars with that neck, it would be a serious consideration for me.

And I've never heard a guitar with nicer clean tones; seems like the "hi fi" nature of the single coil EMG's really serves well for this. I do find I need to roll the tone off for more natural OD & distorted sounds, but that's what tone controls are for.

Count me as another who loves the Luke neck and think it's helped my playing as well.

Most of us here are brand loyal, but guitar specific.
