Thanks for those clips, Mike!

Man, I remember when "Hold the Line" first came out.. I would have been 8 years old at the time! I loved the guitar part from the first listen... I'd bet my bottom dollar that Hold The Line was the first song to inspire me to play air guitar.

Hearing it again just demonstrated that it's still a kick--ass riff and a helluva good song to boot. Still stands up after all these years!

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that I pulled a 'they did that song?' when I heard Hold the Line. I was never a Toto fan - I thought they were all 'Rosanna' and 'Africa'. It wasn't until I went to the open house and met Luke that I started doing my homework. My wife can't stop talking about what a nice guy he is...

FYI....it doesn't look like they were on the EXTRA last night. There's another one on tomorrow night that I'll grab and check!

Well gang, this is the best I could do. Unfortunately, Dish Network let me down, and there was a dropout in the feed. For those who didn't see it, you can atleast get a taste. The WMV is fairly low quality - I have the slightly better mpegs, but they're pretty big.

They played 1.5 songs - Bottom of Your Soul (Luke sang and played acoustic), and and Hold the Line - which they used to close the show. It was nice to see Luke, but I would have like to see more 'Luke' and more EBMM...

Bottom of Your Soul
Hold the Line

All I can say is Luke must be hatin' Kelly....

Mike

Thanx Bro seeing them play a little of hold the line was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was 8 years old when that song came out! and it still stands on its own today!

It's nice to know that we live in an age where even if you accidently forget to tune into a show some morning, we have the technology to post it on the EBMM forum!

Cool links

Thanks MikeVt :D

Caught a couple of minutes of Toto on Extra last night. I couldn't fall asleep and was channel surfing when the were doing the end of "Bottom of Your Soul" and I gotta say I really like the sound of it.

I think that was none other than Joseph Williams singing along with Bobby Kimball! He looked good and sang well.

Luke sang better on Extra than he did on Regis and Kelly.

David Paich was also there for the Extra show.

It's too bad that they weren't interviewed for either show.

Luke on Regis

Quite a bit of negotiating on this.

Apparently, Luke demanded to be on top. Reeg finally gave in.

That was a fella whose last name is Spiner or Spinnner---he is the 2nd guitartist and background vocalist on the 25th DVD as well and sorry I dont remeber his first name----its on the cd. He plays a monster solo on an gold top les paul on the 25th DVD and he is an excellent vocalist as well.

Tony Spinner was only on "Regis and Kelly", he couldn't film "Extra" because he was doing some solo dates in Europe at the time.
That was indeed Joseph Williams with the Band on "Extra"

One thing I've always loved about "classic" Toto is the range of vocal styles and registers, from Paich to Steve Porcaro to Luke to Bobby Kimball, and as much as I enjoyed Tambu and Kingdom of Desire, that is something I missed. If for his voice and nothing else, Greg makes a great addition to the band.

Did you see the short version of the "Extra" show on television this week? Luke only used one electric guitar, and did you see which one?" (He used Don Ramsey's) Must love that guitar.....he used it a lot on the recent tour I believe. John Petrucci is having one made as well I believe sometime soon to see what he thinks of the system...Don's a great guy it has to be said and I hope his trem system works out for him. He's put a lot of hard work into getting this far. Hey isn't that how we all start out though....withan idea. Without those ideas we wouldn't have such great companies as EBMM et al! Luke looked pretty tired and beat up yet even after this leg of the world tour its great as always to see he still has time for the media on his home soil! Wish I'd got to see Toto Live over here in London but couldn't make it! Thanks for the clips....excellent as always!
