Luke owners- ever thought about the EMG H?

I take it that the 89 installation isn't just a plug & play mod ?

I assume just the standard switching, but installing a push-pull pot to split ?

I had a tech wire it. Push/pull on volume knob, but slight change as i had him wire it up with the split in the down position and the humbucker in the pull up position since I use that less often and wanted less knob fiddling moves.

Makes the most sense for players more into single coil playing (which I am...but wasn't when i started playing Lukes.)

Really the only down side, and its visual, is the different color EMG lettering on the 89 (its copper rather than gold)

No biggie for what you gain imo

oh yeah, he also made the hum height adjustable and lowered it just a tad

I put an 89 in my Luke and it was quite an improvement. I just used the push-pull pot on the tone, and wired it for SA-down/89 up.
Another thought was using an H, and replacing the tone control with an SPC circuit. I rarely use tone controls on a strat-style guitar, so this would roll more low-mids in and take away some highs, sort of a reverse fat control.
Or drill for a miniswitch, do the 89 and the SPC...
