Anyone here ever play a Luke?

I'm waiting for my Y2D, and now have enough money to buy another EBMM.

Originally I was going to get another Axis, but the more I see about the Luke, the more interested I'm getting.

Does it come relatively close to the feel of an Axis? I thought I read somewhere that the neck has a 'V' contour?

Also, I would LOVE to see one in Desert Gold.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well the Luke I think is completely different from all the other EBMM models. The neck does have a sligh V shaped neck and is relatively narrow, but I have long fingers and it suits me just fine. IT's also HSS config so that is defonatly diffferent from the Axis and also the EMGs. So it's a different beast, but it is very versetile. Oh and it's an alder body, so another differene from an Axis or ASS. I think there was one Desert Gold Luke pic I found one time. Lemme see if I can find it.
I think I might be possibly selling my Carbon Blue Luke, if you're interested in that color. I like the guitar a lot, but I am kind of addicted to a humbucker in the neck position, and I want a ASS :D. And NO I cant keep this one AND buy the ASS :)D) because I have a 20th Silo on order which is denting my pocket and also I've got no room.

From discussions I've read here, and having played them all myself, I'd say the Luke neck is very different from the Axis neck. Axis is more "C" shaped and I think it's asymmetrical, Luke is "V" shaped.. it feels very different in the palm of your hand.

If you've got small fingers, you may like the Luke more. Seems like a lot of the self-proclaimed "small handed" folks love that Luke neck.

I expect you'll get lots of responses, though.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah, I also have small hands, so something more comfortable for my dwarf-like hands is always a plus.:D

I was just reading some of the specs, and it states the frets are low-profile and wide, which is also opposite from the taller jumbos I usually dig.

I think I might have to try and get my hands on one first before I take the plunge.

Anyone want to drive to Ohio to let me try yours? ;)

Thanks Roubster.

You know, I remember that pic from a while back. You have a pretty good memory!

Thanks for the invite to try out your Luke. I tell you what, since you're so busy, just leave me your address and leave your front door unlocked, and I'll just stop by some day while you're at work. While your at it, make sure to leave your credit card on the table so I can order some take-out and beer. :D

Gotta agree with a couple of earlier posts...
The "V"-shape fits my long fingers very well. And the neck fills the palm of my hand nicely.
Also love the size of the guitar, among a number of other things...Versatility, EMG's etc.

Check out the link for pics...:)

The Axis has a lovely neck, but the Luke takes the award for me. Can't get enough of it.

I have an Axis and a Luke. The neck profiles are different but its not like night & day, they are both really comfy and I have no trouble switching between them.

Before I tried a Luke all I heard about was the V shape profile and imagined it to be a lot more extreme than it is...its a soft V, almost a U if that makes sense.

Not the best picture but none the less. It looks like a very nice color.

I've also got both a Luke and an Axis. Both necks are extremely comfy to play, and IMHO, as spkirby says, they are not a million miles from each other in terms of feel. As posted above the Luke has the V, and I find I can switch between the two no problem at all.

I can now switch freely between the Luke and the Axis without a thought, but when I first got my Luke, the "V" drove me nuts until I eventually got used to it.

If I remember correctly the knobs on the Dargie Delights are chrome.
