Hey guys, help me out.I am a recent EBBM convert and currently own a Petrucci and a new Silhouette.I love playing my silo and I'm looking to buy a new guitar.I am torn between a luke, silo special or a reflex. The jp neck just doesn't do it for me.The piezo is important to me so the reflex may be out until the gamechanger comes out.The luke appeals to me the most but I'm not sure about the emg's or the neck.I love the silo neck but I don't know if you can mix the piezo because I didn't see a toggle switch like the jp and the luke have.Anyway, can you guys give me some input between the three that I'm looking at.

The luke is a great guitar plays well and the neck is very comfortable but the luke neck does have a soft V shape to it so it may be a bit different for you at first but its worth it. the pickups are different then passive pickups but they sound amazing. I found them to be cleaner then most pickups , the single coils to me have a nice start tone to them and the humbucker screams when distorted.
I have a reflex and the neck is great too. you might just have to find a way to try them all and see whats best for you. good luck with the decision.

Hi Skinny1,

You can blend the piezo on the Silhouettes. The toggle is just a quick way to switch the Piezo on/off. If you roll the Piezo volume all the way off, it is the same as flipping the switch to off. Otherwise, the Piezo is blended with the magnetics. Unless you can try the others, it might be best to stick with what you already know you love and get a new Silo. If you can try the others, then of course I think that you should try them. They are all great guitars and it comes down to what fits you best.

The neck on the Luke is rather small and as the others already mentioned might take a bit to get used to...I absolutely love it and think it's one of the most comfortable necks ever but then again I have no real problems switching between different neck shapes. It certainly is not everyone's cup of tea, especially if you happen to have huge hands...

The piezo blend is not a problem on any piezo-equipped EBMM...if you "need" to have a separate switch you might want to track down a 20th Anniversary Silo with Piezo...they're rare as hen's teeth but it just so happens that there's one for sale here on the forum...and it's a beauty!

If you choose to go for a Reflex you can get it with Gamechanger and Piezo bridge:

Having had a Luke and now an Axis Super Sport I can say the following about a the Luke. The neck is a a soft v shape and overall the neck is small but it is extremely comfy and plays very nicely however the Axis neck in my opinion is better suited for me. The EMG's are the nicest EMG's I've ever heard but the only pickup I really enjoyed using was the humbucker which kills and the neck wasn't too bad either. I just found the other positions not as useful where I find the Axis all 5 positions produce what I wanted. Check into the Axis as well and more importantly if you can test drive them first what may be a good match for me or my ears may not work for you. Good luck :)

Thanks for the input so far.The axis has been on my radar for a while but it's been hard to find one with a piezo that is new.Are the pickups the same in the reflex? The reflex looks more comfortable to me.Problem with playing one first is that I live in Wyo and we don't have any dealers.I have talked to guitar centers in Colorado and Utah and they have lots of jp's but nothing else.I am currently replacing two non EBMM guitars so I can hold out for a GC in the future. That leaves me with what to buy now so keep your input coming.

Unless they have been pushed back. The GC will start shipping some time this month! Also there us a used A.S.S with piezo in blue dawn that was for sale in the sale thread at a decent price. If that is the route you want to do but I say get a GC!

That Super Sport in the for sale thread as mentioned by brokenvail is both priced cheap and looks fantastic!!! To my knowledge the pups are the same from the reflex to the axis "can anyone else confirm or deny?"
