i have a jp6 but just found a used luke for dirt cheap. im familiar with how the luke plays but not really with how it sound (when i play them its in a guitar center and with all the crap amps i end up using a roadster and then it just sounds like a rec because i havent spent time playing with subtleties). i own a jp so a comparison would be much appreciated to see if what id be getting into is worth while. thanks guys.

It's a very polished sounding guitar. I'm finding it my favorite for pristine clean tones and for smooth leads. It's not hard to nail tones like Gilmour's with it.

It's not my favorite for crunchy skanky stuff, it likes to sound smooth. The EMG's are dead quiet too.

I think owning both would be a great combination.

Thats the best description I've read on here so far of how the Luke sounds. I have a Luke and an Axis and both certainly are different but sound fantastic...but the Luke is my go to guitar!

Whoever said the Lukes EMG's sound sterile was not listening!

Haha! I use it specifically for that a la Brick pt2

I don't like switching guitars mid-set, but we usually play Brick and then end the set with a few in drop D. Much easier to go to drop D on the LUKE than on the JP. :D I find making the switch fairly easy, although I am personally more at home on the JP. My LUKE is a great guitar and I wouldn't give it up the spot it has in our set for anything (well maybe it will trade off and on with a BFR AL for single coil stuff, but who knows)
