Does anyone here have an Axis and original Luke?
I found a late 90's Luke for sale that Ive had my eye on and it has been re-fretted,
but I was wondering if the neck shape is similar to an Axis.

I did notice that they both are 41.3mm at the nut and 55.6 at the last fret,
except the Axis has a 10" inch radius and the Luke a 12"inch. Doesnt seem like much difference.

Can anyone clarify this as I am getting mixed messages from all over?
Is the Luke more like a Strat/wolfgang shaped neck or closer to the Axis?

I must note that I had a JP6 once but I sold it as I did not like the wide/flat neck and the radius,
though it was a very nice guitar.

Any ideas?

IMO, the Luke neck feels smaller than the Axis neck. They're both very comfortable though, definitely not wide/flat like the JP.

Axis is assymetrical "C-like" shape.
Luke is a V neck.

Not even close to the same.

Yea but Ive heard even V necks can vary by brand as well, supposedly some are thicker than others, almost as chunky as a vintage les paul neck... What I mean is, is the Luke neck a soft or hard V shape?

In my opinon the fretboard radius "changes" the back profile feel considerably. The Axis is distinctively more "rounder" from 1-5fret then flatens out to 22. The Luke is (again, IMO) where the backprofile of the Axis is at @ the 7th fret, consistent.

The necks are quite different, but they are both the same width, i.e. they are narrower than other EBMM necks. This could be a benefit if one has smaller hands.

I've had an Axis SS and a Luke in the past. I prefer the Axis neck, but I like the radius and frets of the Luke.

Volfgang - they are different necks - but if the concern is switching from one to the other, it is not dramatic like going from an Axis to the JP....
