Lunch : Home made chilli, assorted fruit and veggies, glass of milk, coffee for dessert

Music in the CD player atm : John Williams playing Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibtion"

Keeping inspired:

I work. I am married. I have kids. When do I practice ?

I work my practice time around life now. It used to be the other way around.

I start playing and the kids want me.

I am 1/2 way through working out a complicated progression and the wife wants me to go to the store and get some milk.

I finish wiping the guitar down and putting it back I notice it is 2:30 AM and I get up at 5:15 to get ready for work.

Saturday and Sunday rolls around I sleep in, take the kids out, do the chores etc.
Maybe see some family.

The guys I play with are prety much in the same boat We are more like the a bowling team than a band.

But hey- we still act like we did when we were 16.

he he ...

im a few years behind ya ... no kids or wife, live at home, but i still got the chores and job thing. my job, dad, mom, sister, friends or dog always want my attention.

i end up playing uplugged a lot cuz the only time i have for myself is when everyone's asleep. funny enough this shows in my song writing cuz any lyrics i write that mention time all refer to 3am.

i saw that movie "finding neverland" this weekend and i guess our version of neverland is in a garage somwhere X years ago with a few buddies and some crappy amps.

we should start our own "fight club" kinda thing :)

cheers

Lunch: 1/2 of a large Meatless sub and a bag of salt & vinegar chips and diet pepsi

Music: Green Day - American Idiot and other assorted music as well as WFNX

Pack-Rat I'm living the dream dude!!! Finally get the kids in bed and it's 9pm and the wife wants to spend time together. She falls asleep and I convince her to goto bed and now it's 11pm. I get the guitar out and don't feel like lugging the Flextone 3 out so I just end up messing around while watching Seinfeld reruns and telling myself that I should crash because 4:45am comes around quick. Mean while I'm dragging my butt for the next few days.

Yah I'm not much of a player and I'm still really learning. I've been thumbing thru the 3 Doors Down tab book I got for Christmas trying to find something that I can deal with.

I got real inspired when I saw the Steve Morse thing that got posted. Hell I even brought it home. If I could just learn to play as well as he warms up I'd be pumped.

Time to go golfing, I one break from the family.

Later, Glenn |B)

Today was take your kid to work day, or something to that effect.

So, I had my sitter drop my daughter off at my office downtown right before lunch. (There's no way my 3-year old girl would make it through 8+ hours in the office... but I knew we could do 1/2 day.)

Anyway, we went to McDonald's for lunch so that she could get a Happy Meal. Then we went to a jewelry store to look for a Mother's Day gift, then to a candy store, and then to a toy store.

We got back to the office and I tuned a radio to a country station for her, as she likes that kind of music. She is spinning in circles right now, eating some taffy.

We only have 15 minutes to go...

I'm with you guys who only get to play after everyone else is asleep. I've been lucky lately in that everyone has been in bed by 10pm, so I can noodle around and watch South Park and some other shows on Comedy Central.

Lunch was breakfast today...Eggwhites and blueberry waffles....it's 3PM here and I'm still drinking coffee...

Practice...or lack of hehe...I've actually played at lot more per day lately (last 8 months) sort of like my high school practice schedule...I live with my GF and basically scheduled at least an hour a day since I've been working out ideas and trying to write a solo disc (first time I'm doing EVERYTHING...engineering, producing, writing....playing obviously...)...she is really understanding and supportive which helps alot...

Listening as of late: Lamb Of God - Ashes of the Wake, Clutch - BLAST TYRANT, Channels - EP

My wife brought home a big loaf of BreadWorks sourdough so I cut off a chunk, tossed on some swiss, turkey, ham, and dressing; nuked it, then gobbled it up with a diet pepsi.

My kids are older and with my daughter being away at SRU I moved all of my gear in her room and hide away in there every chance I get. She's coming home next week so my practicing will suffer. Big time.

My wife works early so she goes to bed a 9:00. I usually play 'till midnight.

I'm into KSE right now. Never really liked the nu-metal but I have to say I'm enjoying it.

Lunch is Channa Masala over Basmati Rice (Indian style chick peas), water and a banana

Music in the car (can't have it at the office) Johnny Hiland

Time to practice is at a premium with the rest of life: wife, daughter, house, mortgage, job to pay for it all and other diversions. I do occasional lighting design for a local community theater and my next show goes up May 20, so the next few weeks will be at least three nights a week plus weekend till at least mid day at the theater, plus everyday the week prior to opening.

I bought my AL as a mid life crisis tool - its cheaper than a sports car and a young girlfriend would end up costing me 1/2 of everything

Hadn't played in many years and wasn't that good to begin with, but its been great getting back into it. Found a guy who's semi-retired near me for lessons - he used to tour with Dylan (among others) back in the Rolling Thunder Review days. Lessons are fairly casual but I'm having a good time. (Although I almost tossed it out the window after seeing the Morse show) So its usually practice unplugged after nine then get some sleep and up at 5, that is unless I'm called on for extra bedtime story duty. :)

I wouldn't call KSE nu-metal.... the whole nu-designation was based around rap metal...The KSE's, LOG's, unearths etc of the wrold are based on classic metal....they're just a GOOD metal band...hehe

Lunch: The Trough for all things Carb Free

In the CD Player: Satriani Anthology (I am so old school)

Practice time is scary for me. I am not blessed with family responsibilities but I know that when I pick up a guitar, the rest of the day is gone.

Lunch was Mexican food.....and I am paying dearly for it....lol

Been in a real big rut lately. Hard for me to practice and get inspired. I am going to watch the video of Kbaim (the one he sent me of him playing some killer stuff) to get me into a groove again. Just got writer's block.

Enjoying the new promotion at work. No more desert time activities for Koogie! LOL.

Going to LI, NY next month for daughter's b-day with the family and get to see OC again....that is always entertaining! Get some jam time in with him....more inspiration to play.....and maybe we can come up with some ideas...You up for it bro?!?!?!?

I apologize for the generalization. KSE definitely is _GOOD_ metal. I got the latest with Howard from msn.music, liked it alot, and then got the previous two.

I had a hard time with th screaming at first but I settled into it.

I gave LOG a try but it didn't take. I occasionally listen to LOG radio.

I never enjoyed Korn or Limp and I guess I just assumed KSE was the same. Boy was I wrong.

Sorry.

I didn't mean to ccome off on teh offensive....but I HATE labels...and especially the derogatory Nu-Metal label...the problem is most of the stuff that falls under that category is like adidas rock...ya know? dudes jumpiing around in jumpsuits with dreads, dj's, and rappers...persoanlly I think labelling any kind of music down to it's specific sub genre is a turnoff for the bands and the listeners alike...It kind sucks when Dream Theater gets called Nu-Metal for tuning down a step or so on ToT...

Dream Theater....Nu-Metal....hehehehehehehehe......that is probably some peeps who couldn't tune a guitar and automatically assumes that if you drop tune you are "Nu-Metal".......stupid is as stupid does I guess.

I hate "labels" on bands, but, sometimes you have to explain a genre of music and style. That is not a problem. Not knowing the difference and just labeling is.

Oh well, to each his own. I couldn't classify Dream Theater that easily. Prog? Metal? Who cares. If you like, CRANK IT LOUD!

I had a talk with kbaim about Steve Morse. I really did not know his music so I was like, instrumental, metal, rock what? He told me, the dude is so versatile, he plays it all. After seeing his show, he not only played all genres, he played them fluently. No need to label him other than ......AWESOME.

Enjoy the music and quit labelling. You will find you will enjoy the music better.

Lunch: I don't eat lunch, im trying to skinny up.
In the cd player: Mudvayne - Lost and Found or The End of All Things to Come.

As far as practice, I just can't seem to get into anymore. I don't play in a band, I don't have a recording setup of any kind, my bass is monsterously out of whack and I want a new one, and I dont know ebough about music to be able to take what I hear in my head and put it on paper, or at least play it. I think being in a band would get me going again, but everybody I know I would either hold back or they play some other kind of music. It's a bit of a rough time, that's been this way almost a year now. Hopefully it'll work out soon.

my friend once told me that there's only 2 genre's of music: "good" and "bad" :)

Music is so subjective. Whenever I look at someone's music collection I used to say "cool you have an excellent choice in music." Then I realized they would be just as ecclectic as me.

ATM i am just listening to my classical collections. It is nice to hear each not so cleanly played.
