Hey...did somebody step on a duck?

Hey OC, thanks for asking. Yosemite was great. I've been there a number of times over the last 15 years. This was the first time I didn't do any hiking though.

Met an old college friend there and his 2 boys (7 and 9). The 9 year old had the line of the trip. The 7 year old asked where the bathroom was and I pointed to the one near the dining hall. Me and my friend at the same time said, "Use the one that says women!:p

And we start cracking up. The 9 year old chimes in, "It's french for men:D. Couldn't stop freaking laughing.

Pulled out the guitar a bunch, including both nights. Attracted a nice crowd of about 15 to 20 people at night and played for a couple hours straight of original stuff that seemed well received.

Two really nice comments that stood out were 1. from another guitarist who worked there and said he's heard a lot of people play guitar there that just play. But with my playing, you could feel the music. That was something to hear. He also said I was the first person he'd seen bring an electric. Which he was dying to try. So I handed it to him and he played and sang an original of his that sounded really good.

The other comment was by an employee who was changing the linens in the cabin across from me at night. I had just picked up the guitar and started playing but no one else was around.

When he finished with the cabin, he jumped in his vehicle, drives up to my cabin and says, " I just wanted you to know that listening to your playing made my night."

Man, the power of music.

BTW in case anyone is interested, there's an amazing book I'm reading called THE INNER GAME OF MUSIC. JP mentioned it in GW an issue or 2 back so I picked up a copy.

It's about how to improve your performance, learning, and enjoyment of music. A must read. Pick up a copy and see the changes in your playing almost immediately.
