I visit this forum multiple times a day, but don't post very often, so lumberjack's "119 guests" thread got me thinking. I belong to a number of different guitar forums - jemsite, ibanez collector's, hamer, etc. - but I have to say the enthusiasm of the members here definitely make this my favorite. I especially love the performance videos people have been submitting - just watching Tristan is like getting a free weekly lesson!
Someone mentioned the idea of EBMM making a semi-hollowbody - I think that's a fantastic notion. I think almost everyone who plays guitar, at some point or another, wants to own a 335-style guitar, and I'm certainly no exception. I recently bought my first semi-hollow - a Hamer Newport - it was a close call between that and an Ibanez AS-180 - and while it's a very well-made guitar, I have to say that I'm not as impressed with its workmanship as I am with the EBMM guitars I've owned and played.
Here's another thought - EBMM is famous for the playability of its guitars - I know that myself and many others, particularly those of us with small hands - treasure the Luke and/or Axis because of the feel of their necks. What about EBMM making a 24 3/4" (Gibson) scale double cutaway guitar? An EBMM neck like that might be the ultimate user-friendly guitar! I can think of only two manufacturers who currently make a guitar like this: Schecter has the C-1 Plus, a Strat/PRS style axe with the Gibson scale - sometimes referred to by Schecter fans as the "poor man's PRS." Having owned one briefly, I can say that it's a very nice $500 guitar, but not comparable to a EBMM in terms of quality. And on the other end of the spectrum, Tom Anderson puts out the Cobra S, a Strat-like body style that sports a Gibson scale neck - and a price tag somewhere over $2000.
EBMM has done such a great job making affordable, custom shop quality guitars for many of the other niches - but I think the two categories I just mentioned would make a welcome addition to the EBMM line...any comments from the rest of you?
