Has anyone compared the tone of the M-Steel strings vs the Cobalt strings?
Just wondering what the difference is because they're both using cobalt for the outside of the wound strings. I believe both the M-steels and Cobalts use "regular" slinky type strings for the non-wound strings but the M-steels have a reinforced ball end.
What effect does the Maraging steel have on the tone of the wound strings?
Just wondering as I received a guitar in trade (AlHH) recently and it has M-steel strings on it. It sounds great but just wondering how they compare to regular slinky and/or the Cobalts as I haven't tried any other strings yet on this guitar.
I've tried the Cobalts previously on both electric guitar and bass. I love them on my bass and they are my go-to strings there. On the guitar they have a kind of scooped-mid tone which is a bit unusual and I'm not sure if I really like it.
Thanks!
